Big Sky State Games Triathlon 2008
This was Renee's second full length sprint triathlon and it turned out pretty well.  After getting kicked in the head and sucking in a bunch of water in the first leg of the 800m swim; Renee had some work to do to catch up to the leaders in the bike and run.
She started her 16 mile bike with a vengeance passing 3-4 people in the first mile and numerous more over the rest of the course.  Renee is strong on the bike and would love to get a Specialized Transition bike but for now is doing quite well on her Specialized Dolce Sport; maybe next year we will get her a new toy!!
After the bike Renee had moved up to around 12th place and looked good as she started her 5K run.  Over the final 200m of the race Renee was pushing hard to catch one more person but just ran out of space and finished in 9th overall after a 22 min run.
Overall Renee had a good race but like a lot of triathletes the swim put her back just a little too far to catch up in the bike and run.  Guess what Renee did the next 3 days... That's right she hit the pool to try and improve on her swim for her next triathlon which will be in Bozeman on Aug 17th 2008.  This will be an Olympic distance triathlon which consists of a 1500m swim, 40 km bike and a 10 km run.
Good luck Renee!!
