BODY COMPOSITION vs. WEIGHT LOSS
It is important that people realize that not all methods of weight loss are healthy.  We utilize BIA (bioelectric impedence analysis technology) to determine body composition (the amount of body fat versus lean tissues and water).  At APEX we focus on optimizing body composition rather than weight loss, to make sure that any weight loss that does occur comes exclusively from fat and not from muscle. 

NUTRITION IS THE SPICE OF LIFE
Nutrition is the cornerstone of a healthy lifestyle.  Exercise and nutrition must be paired in order to achieve significant results.  We offer nutritional guidance, menu planning, we will even go grocery shopping with you to help you learn how to make healthy choices.  Everything in your body is affected by what you eat, so choose wisely. 

CORE TRAINING IS KEY
The “core” of the body supports the spine and helps to maintain your upright posture.  With weak “core” muscles the spine is much less stable and much more prone to injury.  We emphasize core training in our programs in order to make training safer for our clients, to aid in the rehabilitation process of previous injuries, and to help them prevent future injury in every-day life. 

INDIVIDUALIZED PROGRAMS FOR INDIVIDUALS
Every person is unique.  We each have different goals, different likes and dislikes with regard to activity, and different levels of experience with exercise.  There is no one “cookie cutter” program that can possibly be right for everyone.  We design each of our programs to fit the needs of the individual. 

SCIENCE BASED PROGRAMS
Training is a science.  We use our knowledge and experience in exercise physiology to determine how we design our programs.  Athletes have benefited from science-based training for years.  It’s time the general population got a taste of what knowledge-based training can do for them. 

SPORT-SPECIFIC TRAINING – Essential to Success
If you want to succeed in a specific sport, you must learn the skills necessary to excel in that sport.  However, if your body is not in the right physical condition to complete those necessary skills, your effort may have been for nothing.  Each sport has a specific set of physical requirements necessary to succeed.  We analyze these requirements and design programs based on exactly what you need for your chosen sport, whether it be power, endurance, speed, agility, or a combination of all of the above.

ASSESSMENTS & PLANNING – Know where you came from and where you’re going
When you begin to train with APEX, we will complete an assessment of your current fitness level and set specific goals.  First, this allows us to design a program that is appropriate for your fitness level and experience.  Second, it gives us baseline measurements to use as a comparison with the re-assessment, usually completed after twelve weeks of training.   There is no way to tell if you have met your goals or if you have improved your fitness level if we have nothing to measure against.  Your assessments are your roadmap, showing both where you’ve been and where you’re going. 

FLEXIBILITY = FUNCTIONALITY
As you age, your flexibility declines, which in turn leads to a decline in functional independence.  We include stretching with all of our programs in an attempt to maintain and/or improve upon your flexibility as you age.





When you book a session with an APEX  Personal Trainer, you will receive instruction from a qualified fitness professional.  All of our trainers have a minimum of a 4-year bachelors degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Human Kinetics, Health Science, Exercise Physiology, or other relavent area of study.  Our trainers are also required to be certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, one of the most highly recognized non-proft certification commisions in North America.
