Las Vegas Half Marathon 2008 (training plan)(updated with results)
Renee is heading off to the big lights of Vegas again for the zappos.com half marathon which will be held on December 7th of 2008. Her sister Stacey will be joining her this year in Vegas and this will be Stacey's first half marathon. I have attached Renee and Stacey's training plans so you can see the difference between the two. Stacey's plan shows her starting on Oct 14th but in actuality she started much earlier getting a number of shorter runs to work up to the start date on this plan. Renee's plan starts at week five and has has some triathlon stuff on there. Her plan would not be a typical plan for someone just working on a half or full marathon but this is her workout schedule coming up to the race.
These plans are simply an outline...Renee and Stacey each have different speeds/intensities for each type of workout. Wish them luck!!
Both Renee and Stacey did fantastic at the half marathon in Las Vegas. Stacey finished the race four minutes under her goal time and was still able to walk that night!! Great work Stacey. Renee was able to improve on last years time by 6 minutes and 30 seconds.

I know both of the girls had a great time down in Vegas and will both be going back again. A year ago Stacey would have never thought she would run a half marathon. She had some knee problems and was struggling with her weight but only one year later with some determination and Renee to help kick her butt she can now say she has completed a half marathon. Afterward I talked to Stacey and she said it was one of the hardest but most rewarding things she has ever done. Keep up that hard work and best of luck in 2009.
